UTICA CITY FC ADDS FIVE SIGNINGS AHEAD OF WEEKEND GAME WITH HARRSIBURG

Utica, NY — As the countdown to the 2024-25 Major Arena Soccer League (MASL) season continues, Utica City FC is excited to announce the addition of five exceptional talents to the squad: Babucarr Ceesay, Drew Taylor, Kyle Gehnrich, Junior Pinal, and Jose “Toy” Tavares. Each player brings unique skills and experiences that will strengthen the team’s lineup for the upcoming season.

Babucarr Ceesay (Goalkeeper)

Hailing from Gambia, Babucarr Ceesay has represented his country at multiple levels, including the U17, U20, U23, and senior national teams. Collegiately, Ceesay starred at Bryant & Stratton College, winning two National Championships and earning First Team All-American honors. Known for his size, athleticism, and shot-stopping ability, Ceesay is eager to make his mark on the professional stage.

Drew Taylor (Goalkeeper)

A native of Syracuse, NY, Drew Taylor brings a decorated collegiate career to Utica City FC. At SUNY Brockport, Taylor was a four-year starter, earning two All-Conference selections, one All-Region honor, and the SUNYAC Defensive Player of the Year award in 2023. He ranks second all-time in shutouts and third in saves at Brockport.

Kyle Gehnrich (Defender/Midfielder)

Long Island native Kyle Gehnrich enjoyed an impressive collegiate career at SUNY Oswego, where he was a four-year starter, two-time captain, and All-East Region honoree in 2023. Known for his technical skills, quickness, and high soccer IQ, Gehnrich is primed to adapt seamlessly to the indoor game.

Junior Pinal (Target)

Born in San Jose, California, Junior Pinal showcased his talent at Evergreen Valley College, earning Player of the Year honors as a freshman. At just 22 years old, Pinal is a physically dominant player with a powerful shot.

Jose "Toy" Tavares (Defender)

Cape Verde native Jose “Toy” Tavares joins Utica City FC with a reputation for strength, speed, and athleticism. A graduate of Jeremiah E. Burke High School, Toy has played with Brockton FC and United Africa in the UPSL. His ability to contribute offensively while maintaining defensive stability makes him a versatile asset.
